Reeves Rangers (3) Vs Caversham Trent White (4) 18/02/12
'Rohan's Reeves Unlucky'

For the 3rd week in a row, the Reeves boys took to the field in their away kit of yellow and black to face another tough game against one of the Caversham teams. Without both Dyan and Ammar, who were away for half term, all of the boys were guaranteed a whole game today and would have no rest periods. Reeves started the game extremely strongly winning the 50:50 tackles and being much more composed on the ball than we had been in the previous two weeks. in particular, Ben had a very good start and was rewarded for this when he won a tackle from a goal kick, looked up and then smashed a low drive into the Caversham net to give Reeves a 1-0 lead. The boys would extend the lead a few minutes later when some good work from Matthew fed the ball to Jackson who had a shot on goal. As the Caversham goalkeeper was about to get the ball in both hands, Ben anticipated the situation brilliantly and nipped in to knock the ball into the net to give him and Reeves their second goal of the game. At this point Reeves were very much in control of the game and playing some good football. Ollie kept things this way when, midway through the first half, he dived at full length to make a fantastic save pushing the ball around the post with his fingertips. This seemed to pick Caversham up and a couple of minutes before half time a speculative shot was unfortunately deflected off of a Reeves player and past Ollie to bring the score back to 2-1.

At half time we changed goalkeeper with Matthew stepping up to play between the posts. As well as Reeves started the first half, we were the opposite in the second starting very slowly. As a result, Reeves gifted Caversham two easy goals within a few minutes for them to take lead for the first time at 3-2. Rohan rallied the team and with some good defending from him Reeves started to find their form again and were peppering the Caversham goal with some great shots. First Ben crashed the cross bar with another strong shot, then Rohan hit a curling shot which just missed going in to the top corner. The pressure paid off and with 5 minutes remaining some good work from Ollie fed the ball to Jackson and he struck a sweet shot past the Caversham goalkeeper to bring the scores back level at 3-3. It was end to end stuff in the last few minutes with all the boys playing well. However with no subsitutes to give the boys a rest they started to look a little tired and Caversham took advantage of this to score the winning goal to give a final score of 4-3.

It was another very good performance from all of the boys with them putting in some strong tackling and some much better passing this week. The effort award was a tough call with Ben having a very good game but for his good defending and for holding his position Rohan was given the award this week - well done Rohan.

Reeves Rangers (5) Vs Caversham Trent Blue (0) 11/02/12

'Outstanding Matthew Drives Reeves on to Fantastic Win'

On another cold morning, with temperatures as low as -6, we were looking for the boys to warm everyone up with a strong performance against a Caversham Trent team who had beaten us  4-1 earlier in the season. Despite being a man short with Ammar unfortunately not well enough to play, right from the first whistle, every single one of the boys was on their game.  In goal Jackson looked confident and strong and dealt comfortably with any shots that came his way. In defence Ben and Rohan held their positions brilliantly and made superb tackles whilst in midfield and up front Matthew, Dylan and Ollie were all over the pitch working hard to win the ball and when they did they used it really well either through some good passing or by taking on Caversham players. The boys got the rewards for a strong first half performance with 3 very good goals. Ollie got the party started when he finished well to give Reeves a 1-0 lead and this was shortly followed by a well struck shot from Dylan that nestled in the corner of the net.  Just before half time Ollie blasted the 3rd goal of the game for Reeves who went into half time 3-0 up. At half time the boys were buzzing as they were playing so well and looked really in control of the game.

In the second half Ben took over in goal after another good performance in the first half but the second half belonged to Matthew who had his best game of the season today taking the form he had showed earlier in the week at training into the match. Throughout the game he kept running and running, won some very good tackles, tried to pass the ball well and then topped off a great performance with a couple of goals. The first of his goals saw Matthew strike the ball through a crowded penalty area into the goal but he saved his best for last when the ball came out to him some way out and he caught it superbly drilling the ball into the bottom corner. With the rest of the boys Jackson, Dylan, Ollie and Rohan continuing to perform Reeves closed the game out with a fantastic win 5-0.

For the 2nd time in3 weeks the boys showed what a fantastic team they are when they work hard for each other - well done boys

The effort award was, for the first time in a while, an easy one today for his all round play and two great goals Matthew took the medal home - well done Matthew!

Reeves Rangers (2) Vs Burghfield Bulls (3) 04/02/12
'Ben's Bees lose their sting'
On a very cold but bright morning the boys took to the field today in their away kit of yellow and black hoops and looked like a swarm of bees. As the game kicked off it took a while for both teams to get going with Burghfield starting the better of the two passing the ball nicely between them. However, it was Reeves who took the lead following a good run from Jackson who then struck the ball across the Burghfield goalkeeper and into the corner of the net. I was hoping this might spark the boys into playing their passing game but if anything it was Burghfield who picked up their game and they drew level shortly afterwards with a well taken goal giving Ben no chance. During the first half, Matthew was putting himself about and took a couple of blows to the head but he carried on to his credit.

At half time, we tried to talk about getting back to our pass and move play but for some reason it just wasnt going to happen today. In the second half Ben battled well for the ball and set up a couple of half chances for himself and the rest of the team. However, it was Burghfield who would take the lead in bizarre circumstances. Following a shot from Ollie his boot came off and flew through the air which seemed to distract the boys as the Burghfield goalkeeper took a lomg kick down field which crept inside the post to give them a 2-1 lead. A few minutes later Burghfield extended their lead when a thrown in was defelected off one of our boys and past Dylan into the net. One thing we do now about this team is that they never give up and they got back in to the game following Jacksons second goal of the game taking his tally for the season to 20. Unfortunately there wasnt enough time for the boys to get the draw as the final whistle blew with the score at 3-2 to Burghfield.

After lasts weeks amazing perfromance it was always going to be hard for the boys to maintain that level of performance and this week they just couldnt get going. Credit must go to Burghfield who passed the ball really well and created good space by holding their positions. The effort award for the week went to Ben for the passion and energy that he put in to his performance.

Reeves Rangers (4) Vs Reading Town FC (3) 28/01/12
'Outstanding Reeves Topple unbeaten league leaders'

Over the last few weeks the boys have been getting better and better but today's match against Reading Town FC was going to be a real test. Reading Town are a fantastically strong team with some excellent footballers and as a result they have won all of their matches to date comfortably including a heavy defeat of our boys earlier in the season. Before the game the boys looked very focussed but also a little frightened. We worked a little on our tackling and defending in the warm up and in the team talk before the game the boys were set two tasks 1) of not worrying about how many Reading scored but to try and score 2 goals oursleves and 2) to enjoy the game no matter what the score was.

Right from the start the boys were bang on their game. Every single one of them pressurised the ball and made it very difficult for Reading to get out of their own half which resulted in a couple of near misses for Reeves. However, it was Reading who would take the lead after 5 minutes when their striker found himself unmarked and he sent a fierce shot past Jackson in goal giving him no chance. Immediately you could see how much the boys have learnt though over the course of the season as previously they would have dropped their heads a little but not now, they grabbed the ball and were rarimg to go again. In mifield Dylan and Ollie were working tremendously hard to win the ball and when they did, they had the compsure to try and get their passes and dribbles in whilst in defence Ben and Rohan were very disciplined to hold their position and were making some great interceptions and tackles. They were well supported by Matthew and Ammar who, when they came on, also held the shape of the team and did their roles superbly well. The hard work of the boys paid off as they not only levelled the scores through a well taken goal from Ollie but then went in front through another neat finish from Dylan. Only 10 minutes into the match and the boys had already succeeded in their pre-match task and were now leading 2-1. You could sense the boys now believed that they could give Reading a run for their money and were well in this game. Both teams were now having chances and it was Reading who would be the next to score when they levelled the scores at 2-2 following a great shot from a narrow angle. But Reeves came back again and not long after the centre a long range power shot from Ben found its way through a number of players and into the back of the net to give Reeves the lead back at 3-2. Jackson made some great saves to keep Reading from scoring again before the break and looked confident in goal. And then just before the half time whistle, Reeves played an outstanding bit of football. Jackson played a short goal kick to Ben, he controlled it well, looked up and played a brilliant pass to Ollie in midfield, he also controlled the ball, turned and then played a super pass through the Reading defence towards Dylan who ran on to the ball and came close to slotting the ball into the net - it was wonderful football. At halftime the score was 3-2 to Reeves.

At half time the boys were buzzing and rightly so and we talked about keeping up their efforts for the second half when we knew Reading would come out strongly. As the second half kicked off Reading soon levelled the scores up again at 3-3. The crowd outside the pitch was now getting larger and larger as the teams kicking off at 1030 could see what a great game was on. Both teams were playing good football and having equal possession and had chances to score. Reeves though were holding their shape superbly and they were working incredibly hard for each other. Whenever Reading had the ball they had at least 2 Reeves players in front of them, normally Dylan and Ollie, who were hungry for the ball. Matthew made an outstanding sliding tackle to stop another Reading attack whilst Ben, Rohan and Jackson were strong at the back. Ollie then nearly gave Reeves the lead again when he smacked a left footed shot against the inside of the post, play seemed to go in slow motion as everyone waited to see if the ball would go over the line but unfortunately it didnt. However, he wasnt to be disappointed for much longer as a minute later Ollie found himself behind the Reading defence and this time he crashed the ball into the net, Reeves 4 Reading 3. The boys were so excited but there was still time for Reading to come back. Just before the end Reading powered a shot in at goal, Jackson dived to make a great save but the ball spilled out and rolled desparately close to the line - the Reading coaches were looking for the referee to give a goal but the referee was perfectly placed to see that the ball hadnt crossed the line and was now sitting comfortably in Jacksons arms - as Jackson kicked the ball out the referee blew his whistle for full time and Reeves had pulled off an outstanding win 4-3.

The boys went wild shortly followed by the parents going wild and they congratulated the boys on a fantastic performance. It was clear to see how much this meant to the boys and the parents and as coach I was bursting with pride at how fantastic they had played but moreso with how hard they had all worked for each other. These boys are a real TEAM and every single one of them played their part and has played their part over the last few weeks.

This week it was impossible to give out the effort award as I would have needed 7 medals, one for each boy, as such all the boys were given a bar of chocolate to celebrate how well they had done - WELL DONE BOYS TRULY OUTSTANDING!

Reeves Rangers (13) Vs Shinfield (1) 21/01/12
'Jackson Scores Six as Reeves grab a hatful of goals '

On a sunny and crisp January morning, despite a slow start the boys slipped through the gears to run out compfortable winners in this one. For the first few minutes though no-one would have envisaged such a scoreline as Reeves just couldnt get going early on with Shinfield matching us kick for kick. After 5 minutes Shinfield took a surprising lead when a shot squeezed under Dylan and into the net to give them a 1-0 lead. This had a good effect on the boys though and sparked them into action. A quick and accurate goalkick from Dylan found Jackson in space behind the Shinfield defence and just as it looked like the ball had gotten away from him he managed to get there in front of the goalie to side foot the ball into the goal to level the scores at 1-1. Shortly after this, Ollie helped himself to two goals in quick succession keeping his composure to slot the ball home on both occasions to continue his fantastic scoring run of scoring in the last 7 games. At half time the score was 3-1 to Reeves.

At half time we talked about trying to pass the ball much better and the boys listened well as we started the second half strongly with Rohan, Ammar and Matthew doing well in midfield. Jackson notched up his first hatrick of the game with 2 similar goals tapping in from close range to take the score to 5-1. Not to be left out, Ben playing with a heavily strapped ankle struck a well taken goal to give Reeves a 6-1 lead. The boys were now playing some nice football and could sense that there were more goals for them  if they played as a team. Another 2 goals from Jackson took his tally for the match to 5 and Reeves to an 8-1 lead. However, Reeves needed to keep switched on at the back and Ollie pulled off a great save from a Shinfield shot diving full length to push it around the post. Dylan, now on pitch for the second half scored his first of the match and this was followed by two more very good goals from him, one after he tracked back well to win the ball and then dribbled it up field to score and the second after a nice 1-2 with Jackson to give Dylan his hatrick. With the final whistle approaching there was enough time for Jackson to complete his second hatrick of the game and for Dylan to add one final goal. The final score was 13-1 to Reeves.

The effort award of the week went to Jackson for his double hatrick. The boys face a much tougher task next week as they take on the very strong Reading Town team.

Reeves Rangers (6) Vs Hurst (0) 14/01/12
'Ammar drives Reeves on to 6-0 win'

On a bitterly cold morning with the pitch looking more like an ice rink than a football pitch Ammar led his team on to a comfortable win despite a nervy start. In the first few moments of the game Hurst traded early attacks with Reeves and threeatened to be the first team to score but Ben was solid in goal. It took a few minutes for the boys to warm up and when they did they were rewarded with Dylan continuing his goal scoring run with a strong shot that gave the Hurst goalie no chance. This seemed to settle the boys down and they started to pass the ball around much better and from one of these moves, a lovely cross field pass from Ollie found Jackson at the back post and from a very narrow angle he shot across the goalkeeper and the ball nestled into the corner of the net to make the score 2-0. Reeves now started to dominate the game and midway through the first half Rohan blasted a shot from distance that went just wide. Matthew was working hard in midfield with Ammar to keep the pressure on Hurst. Just before half time, Ollie scored two goals in two minutes, on both occasions running strongly through the Hurst defence before unleashing his trademark lef foot rockets that smashed into the back of the net. At half time the score was 4-0 to Reeves.

The second half started much like the first with Hurst having there fair share of the play and looked more likely to score than Reeves but the closest they would come would be from one of our own players when a mis-directed clearance from Rohan flew past Jackson, now in goal, but fortunately went just wide of the goal. This sparked the boys back in to action and from a good run at the Hurst defence Dylan was tripped up to give Reeves a freekick in a good position just outside the penalty area. Ollie was confident to step up and take the kick and despite Hurst having a solid wall in front of the ball he felt he could squeeze a shot past them. He was right, again with a very well struck shot from his left boot the ball whizzed through the cold air and crashed into the back of the net. It was a wonderful hatrick from Ollie and brought his goal tally for the season to 12. After a short rest, Ammar went back on for the final quarter of the match and continued to drive the team forward. Ben was dominating the midfield and getting some good shots in on the Hurst goal and his persistance paid off when he drilled a hard shot that was narrowly deflected by a Hurst defender past the goalkeeper to make the final score 6-0.

It was another good performance from the boys and was great to see the goals being spread across the team. The effort award for the week went to Ammar for the energy he put into his performance but speacil mention should also go to Ollie for a fantastic hatrick - well done boys

Reeves Rangers (5) Vs Westwood Wanderers (5) 07/01/12
'Dylan Delivers New Year Hatrick '

After a long break for the Christmas period it was great to see the boys back in action and what a treat they had in store for us. Playing against a strong Westwood team who we had previously drawn 1-1 with earlier in the season and lost 2-0 to in the Christmas tournament, the boys were up for this one straight from the first whistle. Matthew set the tone for the teams performance with some fantastic early tackling in midfeild, one of which, a certain Bobby Moore would have been proud of. After only a few minutes Reeves got the early breakthrough after Dylan chased a ball down and slotted it into the corner of the net for the teams first goal of 2012. Westwood came back strong though and within a couple of minutes had turned things around to take a 2-1 lead. The boys were playing some lovely football, controlling the ball and looking for passes. Rohan and Ben in particular played some great passes in the first half whilst Ollie was running well with the ball and Ammar was getting himself in and amongst the Westwood players. Their efforts were rewarded as Dylan pounced on the ball to score his second goal of the game. Just after this, Ben won the ball in midfield and smacked a cracking shot against the Westwood post. Reeves pushed on, and not long after drawing level, we went ahead when the ball came back to Dylan who, despite being some way from goal, struck the ball first time and it flew into the top corner of the net. It was a wonderful shot and gave Dylan his 3rd hatrick of the season to cap off what was a terrific display from him today. But back came Westwood in what was turning out to be a cracking match to level the scores at 3-3. Towards the end of the first half Westwood had a number of chances but some great saves from Jackson kept the teams level as they went in for half time.

Reeves started the second half on fire with Matthew continuing to win the ball, with Jackson, Ollie and Ben making some great passing movements whilst Ammar and Rohan defended well to keep Westwood out. A lovely drag back and shot from Jackson nearly gave the boys the lead again but they didnt have to wait much longer to go 4-3 in front with Ollie dribbling the ball forward and then drilling a shot into the bottom corner of the net. The boys were clearly enjoying this one and went further ahead a couple of minutes later when Ben hit another strong shot from distance but this time instead of hitting the post in nestled into the net to make the scores 5-3 - I dont know what was more impressive the goal or the following acrobatic celebration from Ben!. With only a few minutes remaining was this the goal that would give us some breathing space? Unfortunately not, Westwood being the strong team they are came at us again and after being awarded a freekick on the edge of the area fired in a shot which was deflected past Dylan, now in goal, to bring the scores back to 5-4. Reeves were having some good chances to extend the lead further and from one of these, Ollie was unlucky to hit the post. With the time ticking away a hopeful long kick from the Westwood goalie bounced high and over Dylan and into the net like Tim Howards goal for Everton in midweek. Shortly after this the final whistle went to bring a fantastic game to an end with the scores level at 5-5 a fair result for both teams.

After such a long break and with this the first game back, I thought the boys were amazing today. They played with lots of energy and passion, with the right attitude and at times played some of their best passing football of the season.

The Effort award this week really could have gone to any one of the boys but for a superb hatrick and a great second half display in goal, Dylan was given the medal - well done!

Rohan's Reindeers light up Christmas Tournament

Once upon a time in a magical place called 'Woodley' there was a Christmas football touranment and Coach Santa had entered his team the 'Reeves Rangers Reindeers' into the competition. The Reeves Rangers Reindeers were a very strong team made up of Amazing Ammar, Brilliant Ben, Dazzling Dylan, Magical Matthew, Jovial Jackson, Outstanding Ollie and their leader for the tournament, birthday boy Rocket Rohan. Before the tournament began, Rocket Rohan called his friends in for an inspiring teamtalk where he talked about making good passes and dribbling the ball whilst some of the other reindeers talked of 'kicking butts'!

In the first match, Reeves Rangers Reindeers played against Rotherfield. It was a tough match with very few chances. Jovial Jackson pulled off some good saves to stop Rotherfield from scoring with some help from Rocket Rohan,  Magical Matthew, Amazing Ammar and Brilliant Ben. Up front Outstanding Ollie and Dazzling Dylan were running all over the place but just couldnt find the space to get in a shot on goal. The team got off to a good solid start with a 0-0 draw.

Before the second match against Shinfield, Coach Santa sprinkled some magic dust into the water bottles of the team and it worked a treat. Dazzling Dylan carried on his fantastic scoring with another well taken goal shortly followed by one from Outstanding Ollie to give the Reindeers a 2-0 win. Following this, the team had a short break before their next match so they had some fun with a 'crossbar' challenge. All of the Reindeers had a go but despite some good attempts did not manage to hit the bar. But could one of the parents? Up stepped Brilliant Bens Dad but despite high expectations, he failed to get the ball off the floor.  Then came Magical Matthews grandad who took a really long run up and punted the ball just under the crossbar. Last to go was Dazzling Dylans Dad and we weren't to be disappointed as he floated a lovely shot that just clippedd the top of the bar!

Back to business and the team had their third match this time against Hurst. The Reindeers played probably their best match of the tournament. Amazing Ammar had a very good game in midfield as did Rocket Rohan and Magical Matthew. In goal Dazzling Dylan didnt have much to do as the team played most of the football in the Hurst half of the pitch. It wasnt long before the goals started to go in. The first scored by Brilliant Ben who smashed the ball into the corner of the net. Next to score was Jovial Jackson who found space at the back post to slot the ball in after a good cross. Finally, probably the best goal of the tournament as Outstanding Ollie thundered a shot into the top of the net to give the Reeves Reindeers a 3-0 win.

So on to the last match and the Reindeers were starting to get a little tired and cold. Playing a very strong Westwood team, Reeves were not able to keep up their high standard of play and ended up losing the match 2-0.

Overall, the Reindeers played really well and got some great results - most important of all though they had lots of fun. Rocket Rohan handed out some sweets to the Reindeers for their good play and Coach Santa rewarded all of them with some chocolate. Rocket Rohan was presented with the Effort Award for the fantastic way he lead the team.

As this was our last match before the Christmas break, I just wanted to say how pleased and proud I am of all the boys for their efforts so far this season. They have played with a fantastic attutude and with smiles on their faces and have been well supported and encouraged by all of the families that have come to watch. Thank you.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and we will see all the boys back in action in January!

Reeves Rangers (5) Vs Rotherfield Jets (3) 03/12/11
'Birthday Boy Ben's Bravehearts Bounce Back (again)'

Following the amazing fight back last week against Wokingham, on paper this looked like an easier game for the boys having beaten Rotherfield comfortably earlier in the seaon, but these thoughts disappeared very quickly as the match kicked off. Rotherfield have clearly developed as a team a huge amount over the last few weeks and dominated the early stages of this game. At the same time for the second week in a row Reeves started slowly and could not stop Rotherfield racing into a 1-0 lead. Ben, who looked like he had grown up a year in a week (techinically he had having celebrated his 7th birthday this week - congratulations!) got the team going through some strong midfield play whilst Jackson was putting in some terrific tackles in defence. After a good few minutes of effort from Ammar, he took a well earnt rest and was replaced with Matthew who gave his usual high energy display getting in and amongst the Rotherfield players. Ollie was making some good saves in goal to keep Reeves in touch but the boys just couldnt get a clean shot away on the Rothefield goal and went in at half time 1-0 down. All fired up for the second half the boys took to the pitch but soon found themselves 2-0 down following a goal from a very tight angle from Rotherfield. With less time than last week to comeback you could sense from the crowd that this might be too hard a task for the boys this week. But the boys are made of strong stuff and Ben's Bravehearts soon turned the game on its head within a matter of minutes. Leading the charge was Dylan who scored an outstanding hatrick within 5 minutes to give Reevs a 3-2 lead. All 3 of the goals from Dyaln had a similar look and feeel to them, picking the ball up in midfield Dylan powered through the centre of the pitch and the Rotherfield defenders before firing shots past the goalkeeper to give him his thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth goals of the season to keep him top of the scorers chart. Ollie then gave the team and parents some breathing space when he fired a trademark left foot rocket just under the crossbar into the top of the net, 4-2. However, this game was far from over and with a few minutes to go Rotherfield started there own comeback scoring to bring the scores back to 4-3 to give everyone a few nervy minutes. But the best was yet to come. Having come back on to the pitch after a few minutes in goal, Ben picked the ball up in his own half, took a few touches to take the ball just over the halfway line, looked up and then hit a tremendous shot which flew into the net without the Rotherfield goalie moving. If the whole of the Rotherfield team (and parents) were standing in the goal I still think it would have gone in and am surprised that it didnt break the net such was the strength of the shot. 20 seconds later the whistle blew and Reeves had secured back to back wins having been behind on both occasions. This team clearly has bouncebackability and that is a huge credit to the wonderful attitude the boys have. This ability to bounce back and turn what looks like a defeat into a win is clearly something the Bracknell Bees Ice hockey team could do with as that night the team went and watched the Bees play Manchester who could not turn their own 2-0 deficit into a win losing 6-1. Nevertheless it was a good evening and it was nice to see Ben presented with a card and stick (well part of one!) on the ice from Lucas Smital at the end of the first period.

The effort award once again could have gone to any of the boys but for a wonderful goal and on his birthday, this week it was presented to Ben.

Reeves Rangers (5) Vs Wokingam & Emmbrook (4) 26/11/11
'Jackson Five - The Comeback'

The last time Reeves played Wokingham in the local derby was the first game of the season which saw Wokingham just edge the result after a thrilling match and the question on everyone's lips as the game kicked off was were in store for another cracker this time around? Well after the first ten minutes you wouldn't have thought so! Reeves started the game very slowly and just could not find their normal passing game whilst on the another hand Wokingham came out of the blocks with a bang. A very unfortunate own goal, followed by another two more goals from Wokingham, the 3rd an absolute scorcher into the top of the net, saw Reeves 3-0 down and looking like it was going to be another tough week. However, the boys have developed enormously this year and have created a team togetherness and spirit that wasn't going to let this game get away from them without putting up a good fight. Slowly we started to get more in to the game and after a great passing movement between Jackson and Ben ended with Jackson finishing nicely into the corner of the goal, the boys started to believe they could get back into this. Rohan was holding firm in defence and stopping Wokingham from getting in any more shots, Matthew and Ammar in midfield were starting to win the ball and were getting it forward whilst Ben, Ollie and Jackson were starting to find each other with some nice passes. Just before halftime Jackson read a goal kick very well and managed to nip in front of the Wokingham defender to crash the ball into the back of the net. As the whistle blew shortly afterwards for half time Reeves were back in it at 3-2 down and the comeback was on. As the second half kicked off both teams were playing good football but it was Reeves who looked the stronger team. After 5 minutes, Dylan picked the ball up on the wing, took on a couple of players and then drilled a shot into the goal to bring the scores level at 3-3. Shortly afterwards Ollie battled to win the ball in midfield and after dribbling the ball excellently found himself with only the goalie to beat - could he score and give Reeves the lead? Of course he could, calmy left footing the ball into the side of the goal to give Reeves the lead for the first time in the match 4-3. In defence Rohan, Ammar and Ben were playing fantastic now whilst behind them in goal Jackson made a couple of great saves. Unbelievably, despite being in goal, Jackson nearly scored his hatrick when a superb long goal kick was well saved by the Wokingham goalkeeper. It was edgy stuff but Ben eased the nerves for a little while when after winning the ball from a Wokingham goal kick in the middle of the pitch, he powered his way through the Wokingham defence and then crashed the ball into the goal - 5-3. Just when everyone thought they could relax Wokingham then went up the other end and despite a very good first save from Jackson, the Wokingham forward was able to put the ball in to the goal to make the score 5-4. How long was left? Not long fortunately and as the whistle blew for full time the Reeves boys jumped in the air and on each other and their happiness and delight was a joy for all to see. What a cracking game. The way in which the boys kept going despite losing the early goals was fantastic and all the parents were extremely proud of the way they played. A tremendus effort, Well done boys!

The effort award for the week could have gone to any of the boys as they all put in a huge amount of effort but for his two goals and great saves it went this week to Jackson.

Reeves Rangers (2) Vs Caversham (4) 19/11/11
'Magnificent Matthew drives Reeves on in strong finish'

Playing in the away kit of black and yellow hoops the boys looked and played like a swarm of bees in the opening minutes of this match. Leading the way was Matthew who was back to his battling best in midfield snapping away at the heels of the Caversham players to win lots of tackles and ball for the team.
