Reeves Rangers 0,  Reading Rangers 0

In the beautiful sunshine on Saturday Reeves rangers under 9’s took on the might of Reading rangers. Having played each other twice before (the results being 3-0 to Reading and 1-0 to Reeves), the boys knew this was going to be a tough battle. Reeves started brightly and in no time at all were bearing down on goal, but the Reading goal keeper made an excellent save which denied young Luke Waybourn.
Reading also had there chances but with some excellent defending from Toby Nave and some superb goalkeeping from Sam Jordan there attempts were to no avail.
After roughly fifteen minutes Reeves made a couple of changes putting Rory Brown at left defence and Alex Crowder-Johnson at left midfield. Both boys did fantastically well and produced great performances. Alex was very strong and after only a couple of minutes was in front of goal. Unfortunately the shot went slightly wide but was a great attempt. Alex stayed very strong on the left for us, which won him man of the match this week. The game went on in the same vane with some fantastic end to end football and a really strong display by Reeves.

Half Time  0 - 0

The second half was much like the 1st with Reeves being the stronger of the two teams. After a few minutes Reeves made some more changes with Ellis Morgan coming on as a lone striker and Charlie Hay coming on in central midfield. The changes worked well and Reeves continued to pile on the pressure.
Reeves at half time also swapped goalkeepers with Sam Brown replacing Sam Jordan, both the Sams were superb in goal without conceding once so a marvellous performance from both boys. Reeves should be very proud of themselves for putting in a very professional performance but unfortunately had to settle for a draw this week but a great game all the same

Reeves Rangers 0  Woodley Hammers 1

This week saw Reeves Rangers under 9’s facing Woodley Hammers. Reeves placed 2nd in the league knew this would be a tough test for them. Having lost their first encounter 3-0 and the second being a 1-1 draw, you could not see any 1st minute nerves in the Reeves side. Reeves got off to a good start and started to press from the whistle. Unfortunately it did not go Reeves’s way shots went wide and high which on other occasions would have gone in. After approximately 15 minutes Woodley Hammers had a great chance and netted from it. The Rangers stayed strong and played to the half time whistle but sad to say that they failed to find the net before the interval.

Half time 0-1

The second half started much like the 1st with both sides going close on a number of occasions. A number of times Woodley had some great chances but none of these were a match for super goalkeeper Sam Jordan, who was also awarded man of the match. It was a very strong game from both sides and definitely one of the most entertaining matches of the season, but Reeves did not have that extra bit of luck that is so readily needed in a lot of games. Although it was a bad result for Reeves the performance was great and the boys put in a great team effort, which should make them all very proud.

Meadway Youth 1 Reeves Rangers 3

Reeves Rangers placed forth in the league, faced bottom placed Meadway Youth. Having only met once before in a summer tournament, (which was a victory to Reeves) the team were going into pretty much unknown territory. For the first ten minutes Reeves were by far the more dominant side going close twice with some lovely crossing by Archie Carter and Luke Waybourn respectively.
Then Reeves broke the deadlock from a corner, Archie Carter crossed in a great ball which the Meadway defenders failed to clear leaving Charlie Hay an easy tap in to open his account for the season. Not long after, the Meadway team equalised from some very nice passing down the pitch.

Half time score 1-1.

The beginning of the second half started much like the first with Reeves being the dominant side, Alex Crowder-Johnson was very strong down the left and Reeves really started to work that flank. With about ten minutes to go and some very effective passing from Luke and Achie, the boys opened up the defence. This left Charlie Hay in acres of space, which was readily noticed by Archie. With only the keeper to beat Charlie, with a very clinical finish, fired home his second of the match to put Reeves in front once again.
The Reeves’ boys continued to press with some excellent central play from Ben Jordan. With 5 minutes to go Reeves effort paid off once again with a brilliant goal from Archie which was well deserved and an amazing finish. The game finished with a win to Reeves and a well deserved 2 points which has moved the boys up to 2nd in the league 1 point behind the leaders.

Reeves Rangers 3 Wokingham & Emmbrook 0

This was a tough local derby game betwen Reeves Rangers and Wokingham & Emmbrook, with both teams going into the game on the same number of points for the season so far.

The game was challenging for all players due to the hard ground and swirling wind. But on this occasion Reeves handled the challenge better with 2 goals in the first half from Luke Waybourne and Ellis Morgan (Ellis's first for the club but surely not his last).

In the second half, a fine strike from Archie Carter secured the victory for Reeves and capped an excellent performance which resulted in him being awarded a much deserved the man of the match award.

What was pleasing from a managers perspective was how the team worked together, closed the ball down and pressed home the advantage when we got it. Overall an excellent performance with a great result to match.
