OUR HISTORY

Reeves Rangers FC has been an integral part of the football scene in Wokingham since 1975, when local man Terry Hopkins first set about forming the Club. Terry’s objective at that time was to start a team that catered for all levels of playing ability and this is an ethos that still runs proudly through the club more than 40 years later.

Along with his son Eddie, Terry began to recruit players and together they managed to get enough local kids together to get the team up and running.

Their next challenge was to come up with a suitable name for the new club and it was here that Terry’s creativity slipped into over-drive! At the time, Terry was living in Reeves Way in Wokingham and was also a lifelong fan of QPR. Combining the two, he came up with the name Reeves Rangers FC and thus the club was born. The QPR connection also explains why the club started and indeed continues to this very day to play in blue and white hooped shirts.

Terry sadly passed away some years back, but we believe that he would be very proud of how the club he first started back in 1975 has continued to grow and prosper over the ensuing years.

GARY STEVENSON

In April 2009, everyone connected with Reeves Rangers FC was left shocked and saddened by the sudden and unexpected death of club secretary Gary Stevenson.

Gary was a larger than life figure who did an enormous amount not only for Reeves Rangers but also for local youth football in general. Gary was passionate about getting kids involved in the beautiful game, regardless of their ability levels and everyone associated with the club miss Gary’ s great sense of humour and outgoing personality.

In association with Gary’s wife Jacqui and his children Sam, Joe, Harry and Emmy, the club has introduced a new award to honour Gary’s contribution to Reeves Rangers FC.

At the club’s annual awards day, a presentation will be made of ‘The Gary Stevenson Celebration Award’ to honour an individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution to Reeves Rangers during the previous year.
